I'm usually a fan of Panera. Good food, good value, fast and convenient. This location, however, is a consistent disappointment - and it all comes down to poor management. Half the staff wander about aimlessly while the rest can barely catch their breath. Despite the fact that the kiosks rarely work, there is never more than a single cashier - and a line that reaches the door. The floors and tables are typically a mess, and in the dozen or so times I've been there (lunch locations in the area are limited), the manager has spent more time apologizing to guests than... well, managing the restaurant.
The bread bowls during the winter months are a great selection. The broccoli and cheese is a favorite. This location is ok. Parking lot can get packed quickly here.
Arrived at 6 when they opened. I was driving back to ny. Wanted an egg sandwich for breakfast. I was told there were no eggs???? What??? There is an entire menu dedicated to eggs! It's breakfast time! So I reluctantly got a bagel which of course the can't take a knife and butter it for me so I can get back on the road. Gave me the bagel with ice cold butter & a crummy plastic knife that couldn't spread whip cream. So I put chunks of butter on my crummy bagel and got back on the road. I need to stop going to panera.
I topically love Panera but this place dropped the ball. My to-go order of half Mediterranean quinoa salad was missing kale and my half turkey avacoda BLT was really small...more like a quarter sandwich. Maybe because it was to-go they thought they could get away with it.
Horrible experience tonight. Took my son to the Panera in Rockaway. 1st, they messed my order, they had forgotten my flatbread sandwich, I went to the counter to ask for it, and the manager drops it in the counter as he goes to put it on my plate, he proceeds to pick it up ( unwrapped) and put it on my plate.
As I sat down, I picked up my spoon to begin with the soup cause there was no way I was gonna eat the flatbread sandwich now. I realize my spoon was sticky. I turned it over and it still had old food stuck to it. At that moment my son says, " mommy?", his ham sandwich on white bread was a ham sandwich on barley bread which as healthy as it may be was not what we ordered and when presented to a 7 year old who has never eaten it, was not a hit at all. I got so mad and disgusted, I told my son to leave his food and we left. Gonna be a long time before I consider going to Panera again.
