As my 3 little items were finally scanned and paid for, I turned to her and wished her a Blessed Holiday.
Love this store. Items are very seasonal in certain sections. A great place for adorable gifts, furniture, house decide and even did items.
I'll just say it, I love the Christmas Tree Shops. They're always been polite and helpful. Their selection of Christmas and Holiday decorations is outstanding. I accidently went on Black Friday but they ran the chaos smoothly. Will definitely be back soon!
I have been shoping at this store for several years now... and do quite often! Additionally, they MUST seriously consider arranging their check-out line system to one that WORKS! As the current system is disorganized!
I like shopping at Christmas Tree Shops Store in Rockaway NJ.... Great item selection & prices.... However, the staff NEEDS to work on their Customer Service etiquette...!!! A SMILE goes a loooong way! Most times Cashiers & Management lack being COURTEOUS and act as if doing their JOB is a hassle!
Just a Fun place to walk through. A lot of variety and items not seen elsewhere. I always purchase something. On line site has a lot, too. Even some items not available in the store. All employees are pleasant.
I am saddened & angry to relay this story to you.
At the checkout counters, there were some long lines. We stood for longer than 15 minutes. Two distinct lines. One cashier was a white older woman. The other was a Latin male. Both lines were predominately older white ladies, including me, but only one older black lady. I stood in one line, she in the other & she had been standing in line longer than I. As she was next in her line, the white cashier choose from my line another white woman. I was shocked, but didn't say anything. The black lady was silent. Then again, the white cashier took the other white lady in front of me. Again the black lady was silent. I, however, was not. My mood changed quietly immediately. I looked at the black lady and she still said nothing. Then the white cashier choose me as next, I refused and instead, gave the black lady my position. The white cashier let out an audible sigh and then, changed her post to another cashier.
While shopping at Christmas Tree shops this evening, I witnessed an act of racism that boils me to the core. I am only identifying color of skin for the sake of the story.
I drove home so angry and still can't calm down.
Furious, I turned to the black lady and said please take my position. She smiled and replied, that the items in her cart were for a holiday party for the people at the retirement home she worked for. My heart broke for the treatment she received from this cashier and how she remained silent. There was no reason for this incident or treatment.
